Exploratour - Water on Mars
River Valley Networks
This picture shows an example of a river valley on Mars. Unlike the Martian outflow channels, Martian river valleys can exhibit many tributaries.
These river valleys are similar to, but often do not resemble their terrestrial counterparts. The tributaries can be very short, on the order of 1 km in length. Compare this to terrestrial river tributaries which can be hundreds of kilometers in length.
